Hello! My name is Perla. I was born and found my love for animals in Tijuana B.C, Mexico. Because I fed and took care of all the stray dogs in my neighborhood (the best a twelve year old could do), I was known as “ la perrera”. I would bring home a lot of stray animals and sneak them into my room.  :)

I was raised in both Tijuana and Oceanside, California. By age 17, I begged my mom to sign me away to the U.S Air Force and that’s how I landed here in Spokane. I am an OEF and Iraq war Veteran. I have now been working in the veterinary field since 2006. Caring and being with animals and children are my two passions; they make this world worth living for and remind me to always love unconditionally.

I am very adventurous and will always try new challenges. I am now working on my Bachelor’s degree and training for next year’s fun runs. On my time off, I enjoy outdoor life- hiking, salmon fishing, paddle boarding, camping and being a foodie! I have one amazing little Dumbo rat named Woopi. He is smarter than some may think and loves cuddle time!! Who doesn’t?
