Veterinary / Kennel Assistant
Niamh
My name is Niamh (pronounced “neev”) O’Donnell. I am from the Bay Area, California, but I am currently a senior at Gonzaga University studying biology with a minor in chemistry. I plan to attend veterinary school in the near future and specialize in large animals. My family is from Ireland, so I spend my summers working on the family farm with cattle and racehorses.
I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with an equine fertility specialist and at a local zoo in Ireland, where I assisted in caring for many different animals. Growing up, I had a yellow lab named “Goldie,” who taught me the importance of animal companionship.
I joined SouthCare in May of 2024, where I have been working with many incredible coworkers. I am gaining valuable experience working in a small animal practice, which will help me in my veterinary career.
In my free time, I am a soccer referee, working at club levels up to the semi-pro level. I play lacrosse for the Gonzaga club team and was part of the team that won our championship game. You may also find me volunteering at the Humane Society during my free time away from school.
