Dr. Greg Benoit was born and raised in Virginia and moved to Washington to attend Washington State University in 1978. There he earned three degrees from 1978-1990. He received his BS in 1982, his MS in Animal Sciences, in 1985, (area of study was ruminant nutrition and reproductive physiology), and his DVM in 1990.
He spent the next four years in Tacoma, WA in a mixed animal practice, and then gradually transitioned into a strictly small animal practice. The vet-pet-person relationship is what he really enjoys.
Dr. Benoit purchased SouthCare Animal Clinic in Spokane, WA, in February of 1998. In 2007. He built a new state-of-the-art hospital and changed the name to SouthCare Animal Medical Center. The new building opened in September 2007. Dr. Benoit is dedicated to providing comprehensive, progressive, compassionate veterinary medical, surgical and dental care to our canine and feline friends.
Dr. Benoit has two children, Caroline and Greg, Jr. (“Chipper”). His wife, Linda, is a middle school teacher. He owns an opinionated yellow Labrador named Gracie and a personable and goofy yellow Lab named Gooch. Gooch and Gracie can often be seen looking for friends or food around the clinic, or snoozing under Dr. B’s desk.
Dr. Benoit is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, the Inland Empire Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Information Network.
Dr. Benoit is also an active member of Greater Spokane Incorporated.
In his free time, Dr. Benoit enjoys being active in open water swimming, wake surfing, fishing, whitewater kayaking/rafting, and skiing.
